March 30th, 2007 — Silver D for Diamonds
Call me a softy but it’s nice to see a baby that’s all pink and cute and arounds its little wrist is a nice piece of baby jewellery. Take the image of the silver baby bangle to the left as an example – it’s silver and has Angel written on it which is quite appropriate. It is adjustable and it suitable for a baby from 0 to 2 years (depending on his or her size, of course).
We also have babies bracelets so take a look and see what your little one would look best with and we even have a category for baby boy jewellery.

March 30th, 2007 — Jewellery information
We have sorted our silver and gold jewellery into themes – mainly into types of gemstone e.g. blue topaz jewellery, but also into types e.g. oxidised silver jewellery. Below is a list of the types of jewellery we have – note, these are for adults jewellery – children’s jewellery and baby jewellery can be found seperately.
Firstly, there’s the gemstone jewellery that are for birthstones
Garnet Jewellery – Amethyst Jewellery – Aquamarine Jewellery – Diamond Jewellery – Emerald Jewellery – Moonstone Jewellery – Freshwater Pearl Jewellery – Ruby Jewellery – Peridot Jewellery – Sapphire Jewellery – Opal Jewellery – Citrine Jewellery – Turquoise Jewellery
The eagle eyed among you might notice that there’s 13 gemstones listed above even though there’s only twelve months in the year – that’s because the june birthstone is moonstone or pearl so I put both down.
More, non birthstone categories are Agate Jewellery – Amber Jewellery – Blue Topaz Jewellery – Clear Cubic Zirconia – Coloured Cubic Zirconia – Green Agate Jewellery – Iolite Jewellery – Jade Jewellery – Mother of Pearl Jewellery – Onyx Jewellery – Oxidised Silver Jewellery – Paua Shell Jewellery – Pink Sapphire Jewellery – Quartz Jewellery – Rose Quartz Jewellery – Shell Jewellery – Silver Pearl Jewellery – Smoky Quartz Jewellery – Synthetic Pearl Jewellery – Tourmaline Jewellery – Valentine / Romantic Jewellery – Enamel Jewellery.
All in all, we have a good selection of jewellery in a wide range of gemstones so the chances are, we have something to suit your needs so browse away.

March 30th, 2007 — Gold Earrings
White gold jewellery is always popular whether it’s white gold pendants or white gold earrings. It gets its white colour because it’s yellow gold mixed with another metal, for example nickel, giving it the whiteness.
Sometimes it can be mistaken for silver or other, less precious metals but the white gold lasts and, like yellow gold, doesn’t tarnish.
Some more examples of our white gold jewellery are below:

And don’t forget – we have a nice selection of children’s white gold jewellery and white gold christening jewellery too!

March 30th, 2007 — Silver D for Diamonds
Any child would look even cuter with a nice silver sea horse set of jewellery. We have a sea horse pendant, sea horse bracelet . They are all from the well respected girls D for Diamonds jewellery range so, obviously, they have a diamond which, in the case of the seahorses, are the eye.
The zip charm has a lobster claw which allows you to attach it to (almost) anything – zips, clothes, etc. and is approx 15mm x 8mm in size. The pendant is approx 18mm x 8mm and it comes with a 14″ silver chain. The seahorse bracelet is 14cm – 16cm / 5 1/2″ – 6 1/4″ (adjustable) and has a number of pretty pink cats eye glass beads.
As with all D for Diamonds jewellery, each item comes with a pretty lilac coloured presentation box.
We have a nice children’s jewellery range – there’s four sections. One is boys jewellery, another is girls silver jewellery. Then there’s girls gold jewellery and finally Kit Heath jewellery – which is an exclusive designer range.

March 29th, 2007 — Milton Gems news
Just a quick note saying that we at Milton Gems try to provide as good a service as possible to our customers and one of the ways we thought we can provide that is by offering a jewellery gift wrap service. For a small fee, we will hand gift wrap your jewellery and write your message on a gift tag – just let us know at checkout (there’s a box to write the message) and we’ll do our utmost.
We also have a range of jewellery presentation boxes that you can choose to have your item sent out in and these especially go with the gift wrap.
Please note that not every item has the option to have a presentation box or gift wrap for example Kit Heath items automatically come with a presentation box.
Any other suggestions on how we can improve service, just let us know via the “Contact Us” at the top of the page.

March 29th, 2007 — Bangles
Paua shell comes from the sea around New Zealand and its beautiful blues and greens make it ideal for jewellery. We at Milton Gems have a good selection of paua shell jewellery including the paua shell bangle (as seen to the left).
The bangle has a stirrup catch making it extremely easy to put on – you just slip one end from the stirrup and you can put in or take out your wrist with no fuss.
The designer is Kit Heath – a well respected name in jewellery and the bangle comes in a presentation box making it perfect for a gift.
You can see more of our silver bangles here.

March 28th, 2007 — Gold Earrings
I just love the deep, rich green of emerald and it’s certainly at the top of my list of favourite gemstones and it’s always a pleasure to look at the items when you are sending them out to a customer knowing that they will love the item.
These gold earrings are just the type of piece that’s a pleasure to have – small enough for everyday wear – they are 3mm diameter – and set in 9ct gold they would make a great gift.

March 22nd, 2007 — Gold Earrings
White gold is a mixture of gold and other metals – mainly nickel but often palladium or zinc to give it the white colour you’d expect.
We have a range of white gold earrings including the earrings you see on this page – click on an image to get more information on them.

Take a look at our gold jewellery category especially our gold earrings. We also have a special range of children’s gold jewellery.

March 22nd, 2007 — Marcasite Pendants
Some jewellery pieces just get all the attention. Take this mother of pearl flower pendant, for example – we have shown it on our blog a couple of months ago and it has proven to be extremely popular – so much so we’re showing it again!
The silver pendant is a nice size – approx 23mm on its widest point and weighs in at about 4.3grams. It is hallmarked to prove its silver heritage and, as with most of our pendants, doesn’t include a chain but you can choose one on the product page.
It is made from marcasite in the centre and edges and the petals are of mother of pearl making for a beautiful effect.
We also have a pair of mother of pearl and marcasite flower stud earrings which match this pendant.
As always, click on an image and you will be taken to the information page for the product.

March 19th, 2007 — Gold Earrings, Gold Pendants
Ruby jewellery, which is the birthstone for july, and gold makes a great partnership. The rich, deep red colour of the ruby plays with the light and set in with gold makes for a rich combination of precious materials.
We at Milton Gems have a nice and growing collection of ruby jewellery. One of my favourites is the heart shaped ruby pendant (to the left) which goes perfectly with a nice gold chain. One of our most popular pairs of gold stud earrings are shown below – a circular ruby set in 9ct gold makes for an effective adornment.

March 16th, 2007 — Charms
I’ve just added three more silver charms and all of them certainly go bling! Studded with clear cubic zirconia stones, they catch the light beautifully. They are not small (especially the starfish charm which is approx 37mm), the heart charm is roughly 21mm and the snowflake charm is around 17.5mm.
All have a lobster claw so they can be worn on bracelets, necklaces, handbags or whatever you want to clip them on.
Currently we have two pages – charm page 1 and charm page 2 so check them out and have a look at the detail.

March 15th, 2007 — Marcasite Pendants
We had a nice lady buy a set of marcasite and oxyx jewellery recently and I liked the way it looks. It certainly works well together – the flatness of the onyx surrounded by the texture of the marcasite yet the light reflects different – the onyx is almost like a dark mirror.
The marcasite and onyx pendant (as shown to the left) doesn’t come with the organza ribbon (but can be ordered as well) and would require quite a large chain. The size of the pendant is approx 34mm x 24mm and it weighs approx 8.1 grams. It has a hallmark to prove that the marcasite and onyx is set in silver.
These earrings make up the matching set – an oval of onyx surrounded by marcasite and set in sterling silver.
The size of these silver drop earrings are approx 26mm x 18mm and each silver earring weighs in at 4.4 grams. Hallmarked to show the quality of these onyx and marcasite earrings.

March 14th, 2007 — Kit Heath Silver Children's
Take a look at our childs initial pendant to the left – it has a diamond in it and includes a 14″ silver chain and includes a “babies” box. The size of the pendant, obviously, depends on the letter but an example is the M is 7mm wide. All are approx 6mm tall (not including the bale). The pendant is part of our Kit Heath children’s range of jewellery which we have only just put on.
As mentioned, the initial pendant comes with a silver chain so would make a great present for a child.
You can see more from our children’s jewellery here.

March 11th, 2007 — Jewellery information, Milton Gems news
The title of this post says what I feel, I suppose – selling silver jewellery and gold jewellery (come to think of it) is a funny old game. You do it for a while and you think you know a little and then something stumps you. Take the silver necklace to the left, for example. A nice piece. An attractive piece. But I wasn’t sure if it would sell. I put it on Milton Gems and left it to see what happened. I expected to sell a little but I think the fact that the necklace was a little different caught peoples eye and it’s currently our most popular item.
So, moral of the story – sell a range of items because you can never tell and you’re more likely to have a piece that sells like hot cakes.
Anyway, I’m off to make sure we have enough of the necklaces and order some more.

March 6th, 2007 — Marcasite Pendants
Some call this marcasite pendant a double star. Some call it a double flower. I call them stars but, either way, this marcasite set in silver pendant is proving to be extremely popular.
Click here to go straight to the star shaped silver marcasite pendant
The top, smaller star is connected to the bottom by a link so the bottom moves freely and the stars are made of a central circle with 8 (petals?) on the smaller and 12 on the larger star. In total, from top to bottom the pendant is 37mm approx. The top star is 12mm, the bottom is 16mm and in total weighs around 3gms. The bale of the pendant is behind the top star.
As with all our pendants, it’s not sold with a chain but you can choose to order one (we do this as many people have their own favourite charms that they reuse).
You can see more of our marcasite pendants here and here. Our silver pendants are here.

March 5th, 2007 — Boys Jewellery
For quite a while we’ve been selling children’s jewellery and while had some boys jewellery (a few pieces), the majority was for girls – especially silver. However, we’ve recently been asked a few times if we have a larger range of jewellery for boys so we decided to put some more pieces on.
Click here to see our boys silver and gold jewellery category
While there’s not as many pieces as there are for girls, the boys jewellery comes with a very nice blue presentation box so they are perfect for gifts for young boys.
Take a peek – we have two pages up at the moment – boys jewellery 1 and boys jewellery 2 – and I hope to get some positive (or negative – we want to improve!) feedback on the pieces.
