Diamond jewellery may be a girls best friend, but sometimes it is emerald that is loved – the birthstone of may and with the majority of our jewellery, diamonds complement the emerald and gold.
We have just been adding some more emerald pieces – mainly emerald earrings and emerald pendants and all set in 9ct gold - ready for may when it’s the traditional gift to give to a loved one.

Ruby jewellery, which is the birthstone for july, and gold makes a great partnership. The rich, deep red colour of the ruby plays with the light and set in with gold makes for a rich combination of precious materials.
We at Milton Gems have a nice and growing collection of ruby jewellery. One of my favourites is the heart shaped ruby pendant (to the left) which goes perfectly with a nice gold chain. One of our most popular pairs of gold stud earrings are shown below – a circular ruby set in 9ct gold makes for an effective adornment.

Today seems to be the day for gold jewellery! You go for weeks without me putting anything up and in one day there’s a pair of gold earrings and a gold pendant!
Anyway, today we sent out a nice amethyst and diamond pendant for a customer – the picture is to the left. If you know about birthstone jewellery, you may know that amethyst is the february birthstone and diamond is the april birthstone. I would assume it was for a birthday in february but who knows – it could be that they just loved the pendant.
The size of the amethyst stone is around 0.47ct and there’s about 0.02ct of diamond. The size of the piece is approx 5mm x 9mm. Normally we don’t measure the bale but because that’s where the diamond is, we’ve taken that into account.
You can see even more amethyst jewellery here and diamond jewellery here.
All the best

My mum, bless her, loved red and putting on some of these pieces made me think of her. When I was growing up I remember her wearing jewellery with red gemstones – mainly garnet and ruby. Little did I know that I would be in the business, so to speak, and able to give her some really nice pieces.
Anyway…ruby jewellery and garnet jewellery – ruby is the birthstone of july and has a lucious red colour which many people love. Garnet is the birthstone of january and is often associated with vintage / Victorian jewellery. As always, if you want to see our gemstone categories click here.

As promised in my last post, here’s an example of gold jewellery. This pendant was ordered this morning and I liked it enough to put up here.
As you can see, it’s 9ct white gold and it’s studded with multiple stones - amethyst, diamond, pink sapphire and iolite going from clear to purple and it’s effective, I must say.
The chain isn’t included in the price but there’s the option of one (we often don’t include the cost of the chain as many people have chains already and would rather have the price lower than have yet another chain that they don’t need).
The size of the pendant is 27mm x 9mm (approx) and it weight 1.2grams. It is hallmarked. You can see the pendant on this pendant page.

We had a call from a very nice lady enquiring about our gold butterfly pendant (the one pictured to the left) and we chatted about it and she bought it over the phone (we’re not just an online store – we are real people and take orders over the ‘phone if you’re worried about internet security – our phone number is 01205 724103).
It’s certainly a nice little gold pendant – certainly not a bling-bling piece being approx 11.7mm x 15mm and weighing 1.2g. It’s 9ct gold and has 0.06cts worth of diamond. The butterfly pendant doesn’t include a gold chain because, as I explained to the lady, a lot of people have chains already in their jewellery collection so instead of getting yet another chain they would never use, we price the pendants up without the chain and if they want to add a chain – they have that option.
So, if you would like to have a butterfly pendant like this then take a closer look.
