There's no gem stone that's more creatively striped by natures hand than agate. Each individual piece of agate forms by filling a cavity in its host rock. As a result, agate's often found as a round nodule, with concentric bands like those found in a tree trunk. Sometimes, the bands look like eyes, sometimes fanciful scallops, or perhaps even a landscape with trees.
